A Word from the Head of Our School:

"As our students tell us about the difference Midwest Academy has made in their lives, we hear stories of the importance of second chances, fresh beginnings, and a new hope for the future. They tell us how much it means to them to have teachers who believe in them and are committed to their success. They talk about how much it means to them to be a part of a school family where they feel safe, supported, and respected for who they are. They speak about being truly excited about learning again."

- Dr. Edy Stoughton

A New Beginning

Midwest Academy is a unique and very special school where students and their families have experienced a fresh beginning. Students have a whole new outlook on life as they realize they can be successful students and that they have a very special contribution to make to the school and the community.

Students develop as future leaders through such activities as:

- An active student council
- Community service through advisory groups
- Band
- Junior Optimist Club
- Participation in the Lilly Endowment "imagine" project on world hunger
- Mentoring relationships between the high school and the middle school
- Involvement in community programs such as Toys for Tots and Pennies for Patients

Partnering With Parents

The staff of Midwest Academy is proud of the relationship we share with the families of our students.

Dr. Stoughton's open-door policy has branched out into her popular monthly morning meetings called "Coffee with Dr. Stoughton," where parents come to keep abreast of school happenings while enjoying a little social time.

Our PTO and its committees are very involved and committed to meeting the needs of our teachers and students.

Midwest Academy also holds regular support group meetings for the families of our students. These groups give parents the chance to learn more and share information about issues important to them.

A Word from a Midwest Academy Parent

"I can't tell you what it means to us that our son is actually eager to go to school rather than dreading it. Our school battles are over. Thank you for giving us our son back."
